Happy Birthday Zan!
Thursday the 22nd was my brother Zan's 17th birthday. Damn the ogre's getting bigger. Now in order to appease the moms, I had to get him a really good present to make up for the one the year before. I had bought him a cell-phone - which I now use permanently - so to make up for it I had to be doubly wicked this year. Hence I gave hime "My" Ipod MINI I had purchased about a month ago. I figured he'd love it since he whines about carrying a CD player (spoiled brat - I wasn't even allowed to carry a walkman at his age - "You'll get robbed").
So I decide to milk this day for what I can. I kept insisting that I hadn't bought anything, apologized profusely all day and said I'd hook him up soon. All that talk even led to my mother and myself getting into a HUGE argument about how cheap and selfish I was. Believe me it was VERY hard to not break the facade at that point, but my OAC Drama class instincts kept me going. Stanislawski would be proud!
The plan was to take him to his favourite restaurant, Lahore Tikka House, and then off to the Jays game. Of course his lack of present from either me or mom (she gave him a crisp $50 note) kinda had him bummed and he said he just wanted McDonald's. Along with that, he didn't want to go to the game because of a load of homework. So in order get away from the depressive household (which I admit I partially created), I headed off to the Jays game alone.
Now I know the point of going to a baseball game is to actually watch the game, but I found myself chilling in the box office with co-workers/friends/crew/posse. Once I got there I thought it might be to lame to sit alone in the stadium so chilled at the cool end. Surprisingly I wasn't alone, as Renee was doing the exact same thing (mind you she was actually working till like 7, unlike yours truly). We all chillaxed, until finally the game neared it's end and I decided to jet before traffic. And to be all gentlemanly, I offered and succeeded in dropping Renee home (She lives like 10 mintues away from my place, so it wasn't like I was being sleazy or anything!). On the way back we discussed all sorts of stuff from family bonds, to G-Unit, to how great this season was and how we'd all like to keep in touch during the off season.
Once I got home I unleashed the Mini on my brother. He was SHOCKED. He initially thought that I had bought him the MINI before going to the game out of guilt of not getting him a gift. But the fact that the ipod was loaded with music changed his mind. He was stoked and super happy, though I warned if he f*cks up Calculus this term, I'll f*ck HIM up for having me throw that kinda money for a gift!
Eventful day I must say, but great nonetheless!
