Eid Mubarak!

For those not in the know, today's Eid-ul-Fitr for Muslims. It marks the end of the month of Ramadan, where Muslims fast during hours of daylight. The day differs in various countries according to the siting of the new moon. Us Canadians have it today (Friday). Good times are to be had by all. After prayers are finished, adults meet kids and dish out cold-hard cash, also known as "Eidee" as gifts. Even though I'm not exactly a kid, I still manage to get a few bucks here and there from my mom's friends, so today could be a nice little earner!

We're suppose to go to a close family friend's home for lunch/dinner later on. Which is great, except for the fact that a) we're getting CHINESE food, and b) we're PAYING for it!!!! That's right!

I guess someone came up with the brililant idea that a bunch of Pakistani origined families would thoroughlly enjoy Chinese take-out as oppossed to traditional pilau or biryani. That might be true for some of the more "modern" kids, but not yours truly! I'm truly going to miss that unique Eid taste I annually expect when dinner arrives. What's worse is that this time all familes invited are pitching in on the meal!

Since when do "hosts" charge for the food? It's supposed to be implied that the guests will return the favour of a host's hospitality by inviting them to a dinner in the near future. To be honest this exudes parsimony. Despite this, I'll give the dreaded "benefit of doubt" and reserve total judgement until 24 hours from now, when I'll have digested the noodles I will have had for dinner.

I should get to bed know. Tomorrow morning will be quite the busy day for me! Stay tuned for reports!
