No More NIKE!!!

Having worn the famous swoosh since the age of 10, I've slowly come to love the darn multinational imperialistic company for its kick-arse gear. Of course they've horribly dissappointed me now as I've come to read some horrible news...

Nike signs deal worth 1.97 bln rupees with Indian cricket team

BOMBAY (AFX) - Nike Inc has signed a deal worth 1.97 bln rupees to kit out the Indian cricket team after outbidding rivals Reebok and Adidas, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said.

The five-year contract, which starts from Jan 1, also gives Nike the rights to sell the BCCI's official merchandise at its retail outlets across the country. Nike's bid of 1.97 bln rupees topped Reebok's 1.19 bln rupees and Adidas's bid of 1.28 bln rupees, BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi said.

'The aim was to maximize the gains from the game for the benefit of the game,' Modi said.

No, that sound you just heard wasn't me passing out, but my jaw dropping at the sight of those monetary figures. Trying to take the positive out of it, I figured that the Pakistani team would manage to get a deal soon. Nope! We're stuck being outfitted by some no-name UK company called AJ Sports! To take the glass half full approach, I can now truly say that "the rival" just HAS to be evil, they now wear BLACK (as oppose to their traditional sky blue).

The first match starts next friday. Can't you just tell that I'm excited?

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!
