Facebook is my Friend...

Hey yaars,

I think my week of torment finally came to a standstill today, where I finally managed to clear my conscious of many issues that were on my mind. And quite frankly, I get the strange suspicion that facebook played a part in it. I'm hoping things will sort themselves, and if not, I still have the long weekend to get away from it.

On to the notes...

- While I readily admit to running on Desi standard time, for once I had a legitimate excuse. Today I was stuck on the DVP for about 40 minutes, and in that time I only got from Lawrence to Don Mills! I luckily managed to exit on Don Mills and take a surface route to work, at which point I discovered that there was a bloody bomb scare that had shut down the DVP!!!

- I believe I have the solution to reducing traffic congestion - higher licensing and insurance fees for vans/trucks! Today I counted at a red lights the ratio of trucks/vans to cars, and my math led to a staggering average of about 3 vans for every car. Which would be fine, if they didn't all run on the same week 4 cylinder engines cars run on! That and the soccer mom behind the wheel!

- As mentioned months ago, I bought a retro jays cap. For months I was finding difficulty in "working it in", as the crown was way too big and the shape was very unusual for a New Era fitted (I should know, I have 12 of them!). After wearing my cap in the shower and drying it on my head to try and shrink it, I realized the problem. It was a "Made in China" cap. Good New Era caps are made in the U.S.A., whereas the ill-standard ones are imported. Thanks to a nice payday, I've managed to upgrade to a proper fitted now!

- I got to be a Chili in the El Ranchero Chili Race, TWICE! The first time, my colleague managed to sprain his wrist, which left me nervous for this evenings second appearance. It appears I made a flawless landing on my fall, and honoured the tradition of Chico once again!

- M.I.A.'s new album Kala is simply mind-blowing. If her debut wasn't unique enough, her follow-up has a new crazy vibe that I definitely have enjoyed a few times this week. Bamboo Banger is a definite listen, while Jimmy is an ode to the 80s Bollywood B-Film Classic Disco Dancer (with retro sampling).

What I learned this week...
I'm not naming names, but brown people who have light skin colour and facial hair, should NOT yelp the word "bomb", even when in a questionary manner. It has the potential for very awkward circumstances

Never underestimate the power of diction - when used correctly and in the right context (i.e. not by fluke) it can be the difference between winning and losing a battle. I should know!

I'm off to bed, l8er friends.
