The start of something wonderful.

Hey yaars,

My apologies for not posting for the last little while. I've been a bit pre-occupied with a few issues that needed to be dealt with. My occupational situation has been very unusual to say the least, simply put, I went from being out of contract (and out of luck) a month ago, to now having worked at 3 different places of employment in the last 30 days. And now I'm happy to say that I've begun my first week as an employee of....

(drumroll please..........)

Yes, it's true. After a very tumultuous 6 weeks, I can proudly say that I am now an Associate in Ticket Administration. Once again I am very thankful for God's good graces in helping me finally land a proper gig (well 2 to be exact), which so far looks very promising. I can also proudly say that I've been welcomed with open arms and look forward to a successful tenure with a top-notch organization.

Now at this point I would normally go on about my previous place of employment for the past few summers, though I'll be as diplomatic as possible by saying that there were highs and lows, and it's an experience that I'll value for many reasons. And there are a few people there who I genuinely wish great success for as they've helped me immensely in my personal and professional development. While I would still love to be around (albeit in a lesser capacity), I'm ecstatic to finally grab the carrot that had been alluding me for the longest time.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to convey my gratitude to all the well-wishers I've had. Be they my close friends, relatives, or even acquaintances, I'm very thankful to have so many people support me in my many ups and downs. I only hope I continue to have their well-wishes, and hope God blesses them with prosperity.

With the sentimental Naveed now out of the way, here's what I've seen in my first three days.

- a board meeting in the king of boardrooms (my first 'task' on the job)
- the ACC ice up close
- Leafs practice
- a few big honchos for both the Leafs and Raptors (I'll tell if you ask!)
- a Tim Horton's that now gives me discounts for having an ID card!
- indirect colleagues who already know my name and have made a point to come over and say hello
- people who have been accomodating beyond measure

I know, it's only been 3 days! But so far so good, and I'm hoping there's more of this!

  • Congrats, Rathore! I'm gonna go ahead and guess you're the one who sent me that letter about my spot on the Maple Leaf season ticket waiting list... :p

  • Yo what's with the lack of blog updates? Don't take your readers for granted or we'll desert you just like the ability to win has deserted the Pakistani cricket team.
